Just like the late Brucey, Forsythia is guaranteed to bring a smile to anyone’s face. An easy to maintain shrub that rarely requires watering, Forsythia produce a profusion of bright yellow flowers in early spring (late Feb to early April), giving a great burst of sunshine to the garden, even on cloudy days.
Forsythia grow quickly, about 1ft per year, reaching heights of 8ft with a similar spread (if not pruned), so can be used as screening. Although it is not a fussy plant, Forsythia will produce best flowers in full sun positions, but will also thrive in partial sun.
Plant Forsythia in all soils except heavy clay or waterlogged conditions.
